Pattern Becoming Structure explores how cultural memory can be translated into contemporary form through geometry, folding, and the body.

The wearable sculptural object brings together visual references from Iranian miniature painting, Shahnameh imagery, traditional tilework, and Japanese folding traditions. Rather than quoting these histories directly, the project investigates how inherited visual knowledge can be transformed into a new material language.

Beginning with geometric research and paper-folding experiments, the work gradually evolved into a textile structure that exists between garment, sculpture, and architectural form. The deep blue surface recalls both Persian lapis lazuli and ai-iro, the indigo associated with Japanese dyeing traditions, creating a dialogue between two cultural landscapes.

Instead of presenting heritage as decoration or nostalgia, the work treats geometry as a living carrier of memory. Activated by the body, the folded structure suggests that cultural identity is not preserved unchanged, but continually reshaped through making, movement, and material transformation.
