Origami Shoulder Bag

Developed through origami-based folding studies, this shoulder bag investigates transformation and adaptability within an everyday object.

The project began with paper prototypes and geometric experiments exploring how a single structure could respond to different situations without changing its underlying construction. Drawing from the geometry of the Japanese envelope, or tegami, alongside principles of furoshiki, the folded structure can transform into four sizes and five configurations while maintaining its function as a wearable object.

Rather than treating form as fixed, the project uses folding to allow the object to change through interaction. The resulting bag sits between utility and sculptural form, reflecting a broader investigation into how folding can create flexible objects that respond to changing everyday needs.
